In May and June the choir made another trip to Barsinghausen in Germany to visit the choir there. This association has been in place for many years with visits to them and then return visits to us.  Many friendships have been forged over the years and it was great fun for those meeting up again.

After many months of planning, hundreds of Emails backwards and forwards, and sleepless nights by our hard working secretariat,we were off.

We spent two days traveling across Europe via, the Channel Tunnel, through France, Belgium, Holland and into Germany making an overnight stop in Antwerp with time for fun and games as well as some relaxation.

The German hospitality is legendary and this year was no different. The welcome that we all received, previous travelers and new members alike was fantastic. Hosts teated us as members of their families, and nothing ws too much trouble.

We then proceeded to have a week of traveling, sightseeing, rehearsing and all culminating in two fantastic concerts of the wide variety of music that the Heart of England Singers is well know for.

The week went all too quickly and we were sent off with many tearful goodbyes as we watched the flags and handkerchiefs waving for miles. Travelling back along a slightly different rout to maximise the enjoyment, we had nother overnight stay this time in Lille in France. In this amazing city we had the chance to look around which rounded off the excursion perfectly. Back through the tunnel and a small diversion to Heathrow underground station (a secret mission) and we were nearly home, tired but with memories that will stay for ever.

The pictures on this page are only a fraction of the hundreds that were taken. It gives a flavour of the trip but it is hoped that a wider selection can be made available in the near future.

Just a few more of the many pictures that were taken

See us travelling, at the party when we arrived, a few of the sightseeing trips that most of us did and then, the most important part, the singing. Afterwards, an exchanged gifts and then together all singing Auld Lang Syne in both English and German..
Finally a teaful farewell for both old and new friends.
